Claire McGlynn

Coach

Owner and Head Coach, Claire has turned her lifestyle into her profession. She has been working in the industry for over a decade, and has been an athlete her whole life. Coming from a 400m sprinting background, she was Junior and Under 23 National Champion, after a severe hamstring injury in her early 20s, she moved on to weightlifting. She now holds Irish Records, achieved numerous Irish titles, and competes to the highest level both in Ireland and in Europe in Olympic Weightlifting, Power Lifting, and CrossFit. Her passion is to train, educate, and inspire people of all abilities to improve their quality of life through exercise and nutrition…whilst having the craic! Claire has lived in Terenure all her life. She opened her own gym, Unit 1 Training Facility on her 30th birthday in March 2017. As well as managing, coaching groups and conducting personal training in Unit 1. Claire also works as a tutor with Image Fitness Training giving workshops to students who are studying to become personal trainers. Claire also coaches twice a week in CrossFit 353 in Ballsbridge in CrossFit and Olympic Lifting. On top of that, Claire partnered with the Retired Teachers Association of Ireland (RTAI) in 2014 and gives 4 classes a week with almost 100 retirees in strength, conditioning, core, mobility and pilates.



Ian Kelly

Coach

Ian, a fellow Terenure native, is a strength and conditioning coach who specialises in technique and movement. Ian's professional career in the health and fitness industry started as a sports massage and physical therapist. After 6 years of working as a therapist Ian moved more towards the weights room. He turned his hobby of weight training into his full time career. Ian played elite underage football for Shamrock Rovers and rugby for St. Marys College Cssp, amongst others. Ian now works with both junior and senior elite athletes in a variety of different sports. Some of the high profile athletes he is currently working with include Irelands number one badminton player, with a highest world ranking of 23 and 3 time Olympian, Scott Evans. He also works with Irelands highest ranked tennis player Dave O'Hare. Dave is currently ranked 117 in the world in doubles and is often seen in the gym with Ian working on all aspects of his fitness and movement. Ian brings his experience, personality and his own passion to coach to each class while always focusing on technique. Whether it be strength training, Olympic Lifting or high intensity training, Ian, like Claire ensures that each person is moving correctly and maximising their time in the session, whilst also having the craic ;)
